Consumer News: Killer sockets, deadly fuses

ELECTRICAL components such as switches, plugs, sockets, fuses and cables are being sold in the market with fake Sirim certification stickers – and some are being sold to contractors and developers of huge housing projects, reported Harian Metro

The paper said these products were manufactured illegally at workshops and did not adhere to Sirim safety specifications. 

Calling these “killer sockets” and “deadly fuses”, the newspaper disclosed that such products were the main cause of short circuits, “exploding” electrical products and fires at homes and shops.

  1. Doesnt sound like a lot of fun to be honest. Don’t fancy any exploding fuses or electrical components in my house.
